The Punjab Agricultural Research Board is a department of the Government of Punjab and is responsible for conducting agronomic research and promoting agricultural development in the state.
The board was established in 1947 as a result of the recommendations of the Punjabi Suba Commission Report. It was set up on the recommendation of Punjab State Planning Commission as well as other agencies like Union Agriculture Ministry, National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (NAEM) and PUNASA. The objective behind establishing this organization was to provide central direction to all activities related to agriculture development of the state through its Bureau and Departmental Offices located at different locations within the state.
